"I was raised in the business. My uncle was a polisher so I learned the trade by coming from a
manufacturing background," said Richard Davi, owner of Center Gold
Jewelry Store in Centereach.
Center Gold is a full service jewelry store offering the
finest in gold, silver and platinum, as well as certified diamonds, rare coins, antique
jewelry, watches, estate jewelry, and many other collectibles.
Richard opened his first store in Brooklyn. When he moved to Long Island in 1973, he opened his jewelry store in Republic Flea Market where he was
successful for many years. In 1981, he relocated and opened a new store in Patchogue. While driving on Middle Country Road in Centereach one day, Richard's wife Joyce noticed a for sale sign on an old building dating back to 1931. Appreciating the
beauty and history of the building, Richard and Joyce bough the building in 1999. Center Gold opened its doors shortly after.
What sets Center Gold apart from other jewelry stores is their
quality craftsmanship, integrity, years of experience and year-round honest pricing. "I don't inflate a price on an item three times then offer a false 30 percent off sale," said Richard. Besides their high

Richard is a member of the GIA, a life member of the ANA (American Numismatic Association), an authorized PCGS and NGC member (Professional Coin Grading Association), a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, as well as licensed, bonded and insured. As an active member of the community, Richard donates to local charities and is a member of the Middle Country
Chamber of Commerce.
The future of the jewelry business is changing rapidly. Richard explained, "We have expanded Internet sales and are no longer a mom and pop store, but rather a global jewelry store. We ship all over the world. The steady growth and continued success of my business I credit to my wife Joyce. She is truly the woman behind the man. Joyce is my quality control person and is responsible for
the design of the showcases and the decorating of the store."
When asked about his special business philosophy, Richard and Joyce both answered simultaneously, "The customer is always right. Customer service is our first priority, followed by quality, Integrity and honesty."
Richard says the most satisfying aspect of his job is simple.. "When I see a smile on my customer's face after handing them a new purchase or a redesigned old piece." HE added, "I also want to thank the Centereach community and surrounding areas for helping to make my business successful."
